It's easy to get caught up in your to-do list, the rapid changes in technology that may be causing you angst, and the economic uncertainty and global strife.
To conjure some better thoughts, simply step outdoors. Spending time in nature improves cognitive ability, reduces stress and irritability, and improves one's immunity. Stepping away from the screen and getting outside can provide the aha moment you were seeking all morning. In the workplace, it can lead to fewer absences and improved productivity.
Incorporate the outdoors into your commute so it becomes part of your routine. And while it's beneficial to get out by yourself, consider adding a social element by scheduling a walking meeting.
You may not work near a stream or path through a forest, but is a city park nearby? Or how about access to a rooftop space on your office building?
Let your mind wander, listen for different bird calls, or note the many shades of blue in the sky. Isn't it time you take a walk?
