If I do well on the practice test, will I pass the certification exam?

The APTD or CPTD practice test is one of several tools you can use during your certification preparation journey. The practice test allows you to engage with questions similar to those you will see on the certification exam. It is important to recognize, however, that practice test results are not psychometrically equivalent to success or failure on the APTD or CPTD certification exams.

As you make your study plan and preparation timeline, we recommend spacing out your three test attempts to optimize their impact. Take a practice test at the beginning of study, at the midway point, and again just before your exam. Following the timed portion of your practice test, you can review your results as well as answer rationales to help you identify and address knowledge gaps.

How long do I have access to the practice test?

The practice test can be authorized and accessed for 365 days after purchase. Three test attempts are included for a single user. Once authorized by the user, each test attempt is valid for four months or until the 365-day access to the practice test ends, whichever occurs first. Unused attempts are forfeited after 365 days.

Yes, test authorizations are valid for four months from initiation or until the end of the 365-day access period, whichever occurs first. If you don’t use an attempt before its authorization expires, you lose that attempt.

How much time does a practice test take to complete?

You should plan to set aside 2+ hours (APTD) and 3+ hours (CPTD) to complete all the questions and spend extra time reviewing your results and the answer rationales. Attempts are timed, and you cannot pause or exit and come back to a test session once it’s been launched.

No, you cannot pause or exit and come back to a test session once it’s been launched. If you end your session for any reason, even if you haven’t finished your test or reviewed your results, the attempt still counts towards the three attempts allotted to you.

Once I purchase the practice test, how do I get access?

Accepted Answer

An authorization email will be sent from PearsonVUEConfirmation@pearson.com within 15 minutes of purchase. You may take your first test attempt immediately following purchase. It can be accessed through the ATD Certification Portal. When you are ready to take your second and third practice tests, you’ll complete a new test registration and free checkout through the ATD Certification Portal. A new attempt cannot be requested until the previous attempt has been used. Make sure to take your first test attempt within four months of purchase, before it expires.

Where can I find my practice test results and is feedback provided?

Once you have completed a practice test, keep the final screen open to review each question for the correct answer(s) and explanation, and related capability area being tested. A high-level score report is also created upon completion and can be accessed through the "Reports" section in your ATD CI Certification Portal. You will be provided with domain-level feedback to help you identify where to focus your preparation.  Tip: To generate your score report after reviewing your question-level feedback on the screen, click "End Review" and follow through the prompts to end your exam review. Go back to the main Certification Portal screen, click Review.

I’m enrolled in the a Preparation Course or Bootcamp. Is a practice test included in my registration?

Yes, the practice test is an included benefit of any APTD and CPTD Certification Preparation and Bootcamp courses. If you are currently enrolled in one and want to access the practice test, follow the instructions in the Exam Prep Resources section of the course to gain access to the practice test or through the Certification Portal. You have access to three practice test attempts as part of your course enrollment.

Is the practice test available in languages other than English?

The APTD practice test is available in Arabic, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and English. You will select language preference when you initiate your first test attempt.  The CPTD practice test is available only in English.
