Professional Capabilities: 50%
Organizational Capabilities: 30%
What is the Full Exam Format?
Exam time: 2 hours
Exam length: 115 multiple choice questions

Exam Fee
Members: $525 | Non-members: $800
The fee includes your exam seat, score report, and certification package upon passing. Preparation materials are optional and not included.
Fees are nonrefundable. If deemed ineligible, a partial refund minus a $275 fee is issued. See the APTD Handbook for full details.
When and Where to Test
Select a 90-day testing window during application
Each window includes a 30-day blackout period
Exams can be taken at testing centers around the world or in a secure location via remote proctoring.
APTD Exam Windows and Deadlines
APTD exams are held every other month, starting in January. A testing window is selected at the time of application—Apply 30 days to 365 days in advance of an exam window. Window changes require approval and a window transfer fee of $275.

How to Register
Candidates must apply and receive approval to take the exam.
Apply through the ATD certification portal. First-time users may need to complete profile details.
If you require special accommodations, including medical devices, please review the APTD Certification Handbook before applying.
Schedule Your Exam
Your submitted application must be reviewed and approved before you can schedule to test. There are two ways to schedule:
1. Receive the “Authorization to Test” email from Pearson, follow the link to schedule.
2. Use the Certification Portal. Follow the Schedule Exam menu option.
Select the date and time available within your testing window, choose to test remotely or in person, then select your preferred language.
Pearson will immediately email the appointment confirmation.
